March for Meals

Date

Ravalli County Council on Aging will be celebrating a special March for Meals this year honoring the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program. This national nutrition program for seniors 60 years and older provides critical programs. These programs – Meals on Wheels being the most recognized – have delivered more than just nutritious meals to homebound seniors in virtually every community across the country. We also want to recognize the dedicated staff and volunteers who deliver these meals each week while providing a vital lifeline and connection to the community. Sometimes this is all it takes to keep our senior neighbors at home, where they want to be.

In fiscal year 2021, Ravalli County Council on Aging provided over 28,000 meals through the Meals on Wheels program. Over 7,031 volunteer hours were logged, with countless community members provided support for our county seniors. Other nutrition programs the Council on Aging provides include Congregate meals (lunches at senior centers) which served over 8,000 meals, Commodities (Commodities Supplemental Food Program) which provided over 1400 orders of supplemental food boxes, and the Liquid Supplemental Food Program (Ensure and Glucerna) which sold over 8500 cases at cost.

Please consider supporting Meals on Wheels during the March for Meals campaign and throughout the upcoming year.
