Executive Director

Ravalli County Council on Aging (RCCOA) is seeking a seasoned leader and manager to lead the organization and build on its excellent record of providing exceptional service to older citizens of Ravalli County.

The Organization

Incorporated as a non-profit in 1979, RCCOA serves the entirety of Ravalli County. RCCOA provides services to older (60+) and non-elderly community members with moderate needs. The offices are located at 310 Old Corvallis Road, Hamilton, Montana.

Our Mission: Providing the Opportunity for Independence

Our Services

· Nutrition programs: Meals on Wheels, congregate meals served at senior centers and other off-campus locations, bi-monthly distribution of food through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program.

· Information and Assistance: Counseling on Medicare and health insurance options, assistance with connecting to resources, caregiver support services.

· Money Management: Financial management assistance to persons 60+ and 60- with moderate needs.

· Transportation: On-demand transportation service to 60+ and general public.

· Ombudsman: Certified ombudsman who protects the rights of residents of long-term care facilities.

· Medical Alert Devices: We provide fee-based devices to help clients age in place safely.

· Volunteer Services: We connect people who wish to provide volunteer assistance to older people in the community.

· Community Loan Closet: Durable medical equipment available for loan to all members of the community.

RCCOA is governed by a board of directors. The organization has 21 FTE with 30 staff members and an annual operating budget of approximately $2 million.

The Position and Key Responsibilities

RCCOA is seeking an executive who will partner with the board and staff and lead the organizational change process to build on past accomplishments and further expand the impact of providing services to older citizens in Ravalli County. Reporting to the board of directors, the executive director will provide leadership and manage day-to-day affairs. The executive director will also be responsible for working closely with the community, cultivating financial and other support, managing the programs and overseeing paid and volunteer staff. Key responsibilities include:

· Provide overall strategic leadership and vision in partnership with the board.

· Nurture and expand programs and key external relationships.

· Provide advice, counsel, and support to the board of directors.

· Manage the organization’s resources and ensure fiscal responsibility and security.

· Oversee the programs, business operations, and finances through a leadership team and build and lead the organizational team.

· Ensure all federal and state reporting is timely completed.

Experience and Attributes

Ideal position candidates will bring a variety of experiences and attributes to RCCOA, including:

· Passion for RCCOA’s mission and values.

· Proven leader and manager with experience in building and leading a management team and staff.

· Ability to sustain and build partnerships and collaborations.

· Financial management skills, including responsibility for developing and managing budgets.

· Success as a fund and resource developer.

· Compassion, integrity, and ability to relate to people of varied backgrounds.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Experience working or serving on or with boards of directors.

· Focused with experience motivating, directing, and organizing people and projects with limited resources.

· Proficient in Microsoft software, including Word and Excel.

Preferred:

· A BA/BS in human services related field, which may be substituted with relevant experience.

· At least five years’ experience in a management role.

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience ($65,000 – $90,000). Benefits include a QSEHRA, vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, and a SIMPLE IRA contribution match. The position will have a one-year probationary period with quarterly employment reviews.

Victor Site Cook


Job Description:


Make a difference in the lives of local seniors in Victor. Our cooks prepare scratch-made meals to be delivered to our homebound seniors as well as served at our congregate meals to promote socialization and avoid isolation. Kitchen is located at the Victor Senior Center, 246 5th Avenue.
This is a permanent, part-time position working approximately 24-28 hours a week. Meal delivery occurs on Wednesdays and congregate meals are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Travel to other RCCOA sites, bank and grocery store is required. All food delivery is performed by our amazing volunteers.
On-the-job training and continuing education opportunities will be provided. Food Safety Manager training will be assigned and must be completed in a timely manner. Restaurant experience is not necessary but highly preferred. Only the passion of cooking healthy and nutritious meals from scratch and the desire to help our seniors maintain their independence is needed.
Benefits include mileage reimbursement, paid time off, a Health Reimbursement Account, and participation in a Simple IRA plan.

Job Duties: 

  •  Check in all shipments, ensuring temperature control and accuracy in products delivered.
  • Interpret monthly menu.
  •  Notify Nutrition Supervisor of necessary changes to menu. 
  • Manage supplies and inventory and notify Nutrition Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor of all ordering needs. 
  • Prepare ingredients following all FDA/USDA guidelines.
  • Prepare food for all Meals on Wheels clients and site congregate meals.
  • Ensure the space is clean and sanitary at end of shift.
  • Check email during shifts.
  • Print food labels, route sheets and more using on-site computer. COMPUTER EXPERIENCE is not super important, but should be noted there is SOME computer work.
  • Ensure all food is clearly labeled and put away at end of shift.
  • Follow FIFO (first in first out) rules, disposing of expired or unsafe foods appropriately.
  • Prepare cardboard and aluminum cans for disposal.

    This position may be required to shop for immediate needs or items unable to be delivered by the Council’s vendors. Permission should be obtained for any unusual or expensive ingredients.

    This position has a great deal of autonomy to ensure exemplary food and amazing customer service to clients and volunteers.
